Where does my recording go?

Nowhere. It lives in your browser tab's memory. Download the WAV to keep it - when you close the tab, the recording is gone. Nothing is uploaded to any server, including ours.

How does the transcript work without a server?

Your browser downloads a speech-recognition model once (670 MB, cached for next time) and runs it locally with WebAssembly. The audio itself never leaves the tab.
